STA, 14 May 2018 - More than 100 migrants crossed the south border into Slovenia at the weekend, most of them in the region of Bela Krajina and Posavje. Most have asked for asylum.

STA, 11 May 2018, - Seven out of a total of nine defendants in a major drug and people trafficking case known as Cobra were found guilty of drug trafficking and illegal migrants smuggling on Friday, getting 31 years and four months in prison.
STA, 30 April 2018 - Police apprehended a group of seven migrants in the south of the country after they entered Slovenia illegally from Croatia across the Kolpa river. Suspecting that there had been another person in the group who failed to swim over, police called in firefighters to inspect the river and they found a body.

STA, 30 April 2018 - Slovenia was hit by a migration wave two years ago, and while many refugees only passed through the country the number of those seeking asylum has increased significantly compared to the past. NGOs have helped address the situation with integration programmes, but it is clear many challenges remain.
STA, 24 April 2018 – The chair of the parliamentary Commission for the Oversight of Intelligence and Security Services has warned that Slovenia could face a surge of migrants from Italy, implying that the most radical migrants were being shifted closer to the Slovenian border.
STA, 23 April 2018 – Police patrolling the area along the Kolpa river bordering Croatia in the south of Slovenia apprehended 14 illegal migrants at the weekend. On Sunday an as-yet unidentified body was recovered from the river.
Interior Minister Vesna Györkös Žnidar has noted that the police are ready for a possible new illegal migration wave across Slovenia, although it is not possible to predict when it could happen and how extensive it would be. She thinks that it will not be as extensive as it was two years ago.
Migrants are crossing the river where there is no fence, using boats stolen in Croatia or trying to swim or walk across the river.
