STA, 31 January, 2018 - Day 2 of the UEFA Futsal Euro in Ljubljana on Wednesday saw the opening matches in Groups C and D, with Portugal cruising past Romania 4:1 in the former and defending champions Spain drawing 4:4 with debutants France in the latter.
The futsal wizard Ricardinho was the star of the first match, assisting on two and scoring one goal as Portugal defeated Romania 4:1.
Portugal coach Jorge Braz told reporters it was a typical first match for his team, assessing that Portugal were very consistent for most of the match both defending and attacking.
Romania coach Robert Lupu praised Ricardinho for "making the difference" and admitted that the team was a bit afraid of Portugal at the beginning of the match.
In the second match of the day, defending European champions Spain played out a 4:4 draw with Futsal Euro debutants France.
It was a back-and-forth affair in which France had a lead until the 38th minute, when Bebe as the flying keeper scored for Spain to prevent the defending champions opening the tournament with a setback.
On Thursday Poland will take on Kazakhstan in Group B (18:00), followed by the Italy-Serbia matchup in Group A (20:45).
