STA, March 7, 2018 – The EU has decided to co-fund the promotion of top tourist destinations in Slovenia. The EUR 4.6m project will get EUR 3.7m from the European Regional Development Fund, the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy announced on Wednesday.
The call for applications for the development and promotion of top tourist destinations will encourage the development and promotion of 34 destinations in Slovenia, with an emphasis on digital promotion on foreign markets.
The plan is to promote target segments and priority markets, to further improve the tourists' experience, and to increase the competitiveness of Slovenian tourism both regionally and nationally.
It is expected that the plan would increase the number of arrivals of foreign tourists and tourism revenue.
The leading 34 tourist destinations in the country have been defined by the national tourism development strategy for 2017-2021. Together they generate 97.8% of all stays by tourists in Slovenia.
