The website Ex-Yu Aviation reports that VLM Airlines has had to cancel a number of flights between Maribor and Antwerp due to selling no tickets, with the new service, which operates with a stop in Munich, only having been launched two weeks ago.
As the website notes, “The largest number of passengers to have boarded the service from Maribor so far is twelve, while the greatest number of travellers to have arrived from Munich is 23. The flights are operated with the fifty-seat Fokker 50 aircraft.”
However, Carl Runge, VLM’s Chief Operating Officer, is quoted as saying that such low numbers were anticipated and that bookings are now rising, with the airline still considering new routes connecting Maribor with Zurich and Belgrade, and the launch of summer charter flights to the Croatian coast.
