All stand-up paddle-boarding (aka supping) enthusiasts who are in the capital this weekend are invited to a social and clean up event on the River Ljubljanica which will take place this Saturday, September 1. This is the second year a river clean up on sups will be happening, in cooperation with the sup instructors from Bananaway, Hitradio Antena, the Municipality of Ljubljana and Sports Association of Slovenia.
Participants should bring their own sups or borrow one from the organisers at the Špica meeting point. It is free to attend, although applications are mandatory (click here) – mark “NE…” (no) if you need to borrow a sup.
At Špica suppers will also receive bio-degradable bags and gloves which can be used to pick floating waste on the river during the activity. Note that all participants are expected to have at least some basic supping experience, which will allow them to get on and off their boards more or less independently.
The detailed timetable for September 1 is as follows:
8:30 – 10:00 clean-up of the riverbanks for the volunteers before the main event
8:30 – 10:00 participants gather at Špica and get their boards ready
10:00 – 10:30 participants get themselves on the water and warm up
10:30 – the group begins their clean-up trip to Dragon Bridge and then back to Špica
12:00 – socializing
