The Slovene team lost their first match in the main round of the Men's EHF European Handball Championship, with Denmark finishing 3 goals ahead. Also in Group II, Germany beat the Czech Republic 22:19.
The Slovenian squad was given a warm welcome by the many fans who travelled to Varazdin, Croatia, to watch the game, and while they got off to a good start they buckled under the force of Denmark’s Lasse Svan in the second half, who sealed his Man of the Match title with 11 goals.
Germany and Denmark now sit at the top of the group with 4 points each, from which only two teams will progress to the semi-finals, while Slovenia are currently bottom of the group, with one 1 point.
On Tuesday January 23, 18:15, Slovenia will meet Spain, with perhaps the team’s last game of the championship taking place the next day, 16:00, when they play against the Czech Republic.
