Slovenian handball players lost to Sweden 33:21 in the eight-finals of the World Championship in Germany, which means the conclusion of the competition for the young team.
Despite this heavy loss against the Swedes, the national team fulfilled all the goals that were set by the main coach, Uroš Bregar: they managed to qualify for the World Championship and reach the eight-finals.
The selection of players, explained Bregar ahead of the competition, followed a long-term plan that involves the rejuvenation of the team and their preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. An invitation to play for the team went to all those players that were available now and will continue to be available in the future.
