Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret, the teenager judged by many to be the best sport climber in the world, added another gold to her trophy cabinet in Innsbruck on Friday, coming first in the bouldering event, after having to make do with a rare silver in the lead event earlier in the week. It was an emotional finish, as she was assured of the gold even before tackling the last boulder, which she failed to complete, before breaking down in what appeared to be tears of joy and relief, before being hugged by other competitors, as shown below.
Second place in bouldering went to Japan’s Akiyo Noguchi, and third to Serbia’s Staša Gejo. Slovenia’s Katja Kadić finished 12th. The women now move on to the combined event.
p>With regard to men, the bouldering competition remains at the semi-final stage, with Slovenia’s Jernej Kruder currently in the top spot, followed by Japan’s Tomoa Narasaki and Korea’s Jongwon Chon.
