Jakov Fak finished second in the pursuit biathlon race in Oestersund this Sunday. Fak stepped on the podium for the first time in two and a half years, raising hopes for a medal-winning Olympic performance in a two months’ time.
The 30-year old, who competed for Croatia till 2010, skipped the last season due to illness, returned with 12th and 10nd place in the first two races of this season and finally won silver with two missed shots in the third, which places him at the fifth place in the World Cup overall standing with 114 points.
The winner, Martin Fourcad from France, triumphed with what was the 64th victory of his career, and tops the overall standings with 162 points.
