Remarkably for a nation with no great ice hockey tradition, the UK managed to beat Slovenia 3 to 1 in Budapest on Sunday, as part of the 2018 IIHF World Championship Division I tournament, which sees countries playing to leave the second-tier league and enter the Elite Division.
Slovenia, which last year lost its place in the Elite Division, having ended the season in 15th place out of 16, will next face Hungary, Italy, Poland and Kazakhstan.
