STA, 13 May 2018 - Voters upheld the law governing the financing of the railway upgrade between the Koper port and the inland hub Divača in the repeat referendum on Sunday. The government will try to immediately kick-start the project, but the initiator of the referendum plans to appeal the result yet again in order to delay the law until after the election.

STA, 11 May 2018 - The opposition Democrats (SDS) appear to have affirmed their leading position in the polls with three weeks to go until the general election. The latest poll by Mediana gives them a full five-point lead on the non-parliamentary Marjan Šarec List, with the coalition Social Democrats a distant third.

STA, 12 May 2018 - Tourists from Central and Eastern Europe joining in on mass migrations to Croatia through Slovenia will only have to endure the bottlenecks at Gruškovje in NE one more time, because motorway company DARS expects the final section of the motorway between Ptuj and the border crossing to be complete by autumn.

STA, 11 May - Renting real estate in Slovenia is becoming less frequent than buying despite the fact that the prices of real estate are growing faster than rents, the Mapping and Surveying Authority (GURS) said on Friday. The trend can be seen with both private and commercial real estate.
STA, 11 May 2018, - Seven out of a total of nine defendants in a major drug and people trafficking case known as Cobra were found guilty of drug trafficking and illegal migrants smuggling on Friday, getting 31 years and four months in prison.
