A total of 38,762 students are enrolled at the University of Ljubljana in the 2017/2018 academic year, reports the STA, January 31, 2018. Among them there are 2,476 students from abroad, hailing from 96 countries, the university said on Wednesday, a week before it opens the doors to students who are interested in enrolling for the next academic year.
According to the university, the majority of students from abroad come from former Yugoslav countries, the most from Macedonia (556), Croatia (493) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (439).
Foreign students have two favourite faculties, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Arts, while many also enrol at the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Meanwhile, a total 1,330 students of the University of Ljubljana went on exchange programmes abroad in the 2016/2017 academic year, most to Germany (204).
The university received 2,026 exchange students that year. The most came from Spain (172), followed by German and Czech students (156 each).
The university will open the doors of all of its faculties and academies to those interested in studying at the University of Ljubljana on 9 and 10 February.
It will offer 9,219 spots for first-year undergraduate students in the 2018/2019 year, 7,212 for master's studies, while 882 will be able to pursue their doctoral students.
