The warm southern air that reached us on Sunday brought more rain and winds strong enough for the State meteorological service to declare an orange alarm for the entire country yesterday.
Winds of over 100 km/h are expected to slow down during the day, while river levels continue to rise.
There is also an avalanche risk due to the pronounced thaw and large amounts of snow in the mountains while accumulating rain waters continue to flood the coastal belt.
River levels are rising high and overflowing in the areas where floods usually occur, such as the inner karst region, while warning of larger scale floods has been issued for the rivers Vipava, Ljubljanica and upper and middle flows of the Sava River.
Drivers are advised to take care and allow extra time for their journeys, while walkers would be wise to take an umbrella and raincoat.
