"Craze ahead of World Cup in Russia": The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will be opened today by the hosts and Saudi Arabia, testing the power of football as a connection among different nations. (front page, 23, 24)

OECD recommendations
"They would tax meals and travel expenses": The OECD has proposed that Slovenia implement a tax reform in order to reduce taxation on social security contributions, which would be offset with changes to income tax, expansion of the VAT base and a real estate tax. (front page, 10)

Summer child care
"Summer will be long for some": The summer will perhaps be too long for some parents, as they will need to secure care for their children who will be out of school. Many of them cannot afford summer child care. (front page, 5)

Agrokor scandal
"Voices raised over staffing in Mercator": The Economy Ministry has confirmed that they had a meeting with Agrokor boss Fabris Peruško regarding new supervisors in Mercator just before the AGM in the retailer. The ministry says that this was not interference of politics in the operations of Mercator. (front page, 5)

Tour of Slovenia
"Italian wins in chaos in Murska Sobota, Mezgec fourth": The first stage of the Tour of Slovenia cycling race was marked by a chaotic finish, including two group crashes less than a kilometre to go. It was a triple win for Italians, with Somine Conssoni being the first to cross the line. (front page, 15)

Healthcare
"Largest concessionaires in healthcare - who they are and how much they earn": Last year, the largest 20 concessionaires in healthcare received a total of EUR 50m from the public health fund for their services provided to patients. (front page, 4-5)

Gorenje sale
"Stane Seničar, chief supervisor of KAD: We were brave, we will sell the stake in Gorenje": The supervisory board of KAD decided to sell the state-owned fund's 16.4% stake in home appliances maker Gorenje to Chinese acquirer Hisense, which will net KAD EUR 48m. (front page, 10-11)

Cinkarna Celje sale

OECD recommendations
