Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Tuesday, 12 June 2018, as prepared by the STA:

Trump-Kim summit
"Historic handshake in Singapore": US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met in Singapore. For Kim, the meeting alone was an important achievement, while Trump needs a foreign-policy success to balance his trouble in the international arena. (front page, 3)

Gorenje
"KAD would let the government decide on sale": The state-run pension fund KAD is said to be in favour of selling its 16.4% in household appliance maker Gorenje to Chinese Hisense, but would leave the decision to the government because of the national strategy on asset management currently stipulates otherwise. (front page, 9)

"EU between heaven and hell": The European Commission spokesperson said the EU would respect the joint G7 declaration regardless US President Donald Trump's notorious tweet. "Pacta sunt servanda," Margaritis Schinas said. (front page, 9)

General election
"Political parties coming back to life these days": After a relatively long post-election silence, things are getting livelier in the political area again. Parties are solving internal issues and discussing the formation of a new government. The head of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS), Karl Erjavec, has offered to resign over the election result. "Automotive companies expect delays in production in autumn": Car makers will have to introduce stricter emission tests in the autumn, which could lead to delays in production, the paper cites Der Spiegel. (front page, 2, 3)

Car industry
"Higher prices of cars, delays in supply and modester choice consequences of more realistic fuel consumption tests": The paper organised a panel on WLTP, the new standard for testing fuel consumption. The more realistic tests will have several consequences, including a higher tax on motor vehicles in Slovenia. (front page, 4, 5)

"Fewer jobs in summer, but we're in for a hot autumn": After a slowdown in job creation in the summer, Slovenian employers are expected to shift into higher gear in the autumn, because they are to create almost 20,000 jobs by the end of the year, according to a survey by temping agency Manpower. Bakery fire
"Firefighters at site of fire today": Sunday's fire completely destroyed the Miklavške Pekarne bakery, causing at least EUR 1m in damage. But the extent of business damage is unclear as of yet. (front page, 21)

Maribor
"Krevelj (still) director of Nigrad": Matjaž Krevelj remains the head of the Maribor public utility company Nigrad, chief supervisor Matjaž Mihelak told workers after Krevelj nearly handed in his resignation because of tensions with the Maribor Municipality. (front page, 8)
