Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Tuesday, 5 June 2018, as prepared by the STA

DELO

New parliament
"Who are our new legislators": The paper runs a feature on the composition of the new parliament, noting that only 22 women have been elected to the 90-strong National Assembly. The youngest MP is 28 years old and the oldest 73. (front page, 2, 3)

30th anniversary of Human Rights Committee
"Bavčar only one not to get an invitation": President Borut Pahor has decided to host a reception on the 30th anniversary for the founders of the Human Rights Committee, which organised mass protests following a 1980s military trial known as the JBTZ process, which contributed to Slovenia's independence. Pahor did not send an invitation to Igor Bavčar, who initiated the committee, but is now in prison for corruption. (front page, 3)

Football
"Igor Biščan says goodbye after double title": Olimpija coach Igor Biščan has been dismissed after taking the football club to the biggest success in years, the league and cup titles. Former Slovenian national team manager Slaviša Stojanović is the likeliest replacement. (front page, 20)

DNEVNIK

Election
"We have winners and losers but not a coalition yet": Sunday's election gave us winners and losers, but it is far from clear what kind of coalition Slovenia will get. The post-election Monday saw informal talks between parties, but few involving the winner, the Democratic Party (SDS). (front page, 2-5)

Cinkarna Celje takeover
"Competition valued much higher": After a heavy payout for Austria's Ring in the case of acquiring and then selling coatings maker Helios, a company linked to it has found a new takeover target, the chemical company Cinkarna Celje. The offered price is far below values at which similar companies are acquired globally. (front page, 7)

FINANCE

Takeovers
"Companies together worth more than a billion euro sold within weeks": In recent weeks, there was much talk about the sale of major Slovenian companies, including home appliance maker Gorenje and insurer Adriatic Slovenica, totalling more than EUR 1bn. Reasons vary, but most want to cash in on the apex of the economic cycle. (front page, 2, 3).

Real estate
"You will be able to buy these apartments at auctions in Ljubljana": The paper runs a list of auctions to be held in Ljubljana in June, with the starting prices ranging from EUR 34,000 to EUR 207,000. (front page, 10, 11)

Healthcare
"Health centres gearing up for damages suit against state over pay hike": The paper cites unofficial but reliable information that around 30 of the 57 health centres are planning to sue the state for raising wages in healthcare but not securing financing. (front page, 4)

VEČER

Election
"Combinations without limits": The first post-election day passed in tactical waiting for parties' moves, with the winner, the Democrat (SDS) leader Janez Janša, enveloped in silence. Officially, the ball is in the court of President Borut Pahor, who has already announced that he will offer the first chance to put together a government to the winner. (front page, 2-7)

Maribor
"Areh Hotel without Markovićs": The renovation of the Areh Hotel on Pohorje above Maribor will continue without Saša and Zekira Marković, who have withdrawn because of personal and health reasons. The remaining partner hopes to have the dilapidated hotel ready by the 2019/2020 winter season. (front page, 1!)

Maribor University
"Oplotnik and Kačič are favourites": Maribor University is voting on its chancellor today, with pundits giving the most chances to Žan Jan Oplotnik, a deputy chancellor for finance, and Zdravko Kačič, a former deputy chancellor for finance. (front page, 9)
