GDPR legislation
"They need the law before the end of May": Companies face uncertainty ahead of 25 May, when the new EU data protection regulation known as GDPR takes effect. A Slovenian law implementing the regulation would alleviate fears, but because of the campaign-driven chaos in parliament it is unlikely to be adopted before the election. (front page, 3)
Tourist tax in Ljubljana
"Tourist tax in Ljubljana will be significantly higher": The tourist tax in Ljubljana will almost double to 2.5 euro, the maximum allowed by recently adopted legislation, the city council has decided. Together with a special fee for tourism promotion, it will top out at 3.125 euro. (front page, 9)
Montenegro election
"Đukanović wins presidential election in first round": Milo Đukanović, who has been president or prime minister in Montenegro since 1991, has won the presidential election in a landslide, picking up almost 54% of the vote to render a run-off unnecessary. (front page, 7)
