Yesterday, March 20, was the sixth UN-approved International Day of Happiness, and as such a good excuse to raid the Republic of Slovenia’s Statistical Office (SURS) for the following chart showing self-assessed life satisfaction in the country, with the data collected in 2016.

Of interest, and perhaps unsurprising, are the findings that, on average, healthy people are more satisfied with their lives than those in bad health, the rich are happier than the poor, the young are more joyful than the old, and the employed more content than those without jobs, no matter whether the latter are retired or unemployed.
The last EU-wide survey on this issue, carried out in 2013, found the average level of happiness to be 7.0, which is also the average for Slovenia in the more recent dataset.
More statistics on this, and many other issues related to Slovenia, can be found on the excellent SURS website.
