The average monthly gross wage in the first six months in the public sector was EUR 1,929, which was 3.5% higher nominally than in the first half of 2017. In the private sector, it was up by 4.2% to EUR 1,530, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday.
The average monthly net wage in the January-June period in the public sector was EUR 1,242, or 3% year-on-year. In the private sector, it was at EUR 998, or 3.6% more than in the same period last year.
Compared to 2017, the average monthly net wage was up in the first half of 2018 in all statistical regions. It increased the most in Pomurje (+4.1%), followed by Koroška (+3.5%) and Gorenjska (+3.4%).
In June alone, the average gross wage was EUR 1,654, which was 0.6% more than in May in both nominal and real terms. The average gross wage was meanwhile up by 3.2% nominally and by 1.1% in real terms in June year-on-year.
The average net wage in June amounted to EUR 1,073, which was 0.4% more nominally and in real terms than in May. Year-on-year, it was up by 2.7% nominally and by 0.6% in real terms.
