Celebrating holy mass outside the Basilica of St. Mary Help of Christians, Zore thanked everyone who helped the ill and the elderly, quoting Pope Francis's message on the World Day of the Sick.
Pope Francis said that "wise organization and charity demand that the sick person be respected in his or her dignity, and constantly kept at the centre of the therapeutic process.
"This should likewise be the approach of Christians who work in public structures; through their service, they too are called to bear convincing witness to the Gospel," Zore quoted the pope.
However, the archbishop also spoke of a mental background which he said was full of fine words about human rights and about care and responsibility for the vulnerable groups.
"Despite these fine-sounding words it happens too often that we trample on the right to life from conception to natural death with the so-called right to choice and right to a 'dignified death'," he said.
The annual pilgrimage of the sick, disabled and the elderly to Brezje has been organised for the 50th year by Ognjišče, the Catholic magazine.
