April 25, 2018
In case you missed it, April 27 (Friday) is a national holiday, and if you are up for a relaxing trip to the coast and also like wine, then Izola might be a good choice for you.
Izola – known as Isola in Italian, as you'll see on the signs – is a small, ancient coastal town that once used to be an island, with several public stone beaches surrounding the old city centre.

The Orange Wine Festival will take place there (Manzioli Palace at Manzioli Square) on Friday, starting at 14:00 and finishing at 21:00, with about 60 producers of orange wine presenting the fruits of their labours. Orange wine is wine made from white grapes that underwent a prolonged maceration process, i.e. soaking of grape skins, seeds and stems in must, a method generally used in the production of red wine.
Tickets will be sold at 35 EUR and include a glass along with access to the wine and food tasting.

For those who might be tempted to take a swim after a few glasses then be aware that the sea temperatures are still quite cold, and swing between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius. Do bring swimsuit, though in case the sky clears and an opportunity for some sunbathing presents itself.
