Foreign-owned non-financial companies in Slovenia employed 25.5% of all employees in the sector, or 1.8 percentage points more than in 2015.
The Statistics Office notes that the increases are related to the sales of a number of companies, including poultry producer Perutnina Ptuj, tissue maker Paloma, fuse and switch manufacturer Eti Elektroelement and steel fittings producer Kovinoplastika Lož.
German and Austrian companies operating in Slovenia generated a third of the total added value generated by foreign companies in 2016, or half of the total added value generated by companies from the EU. They also represented half of the total investments by foreign companies in Slovenia.
Companies with Swiss, Russian and US owners generated a quarter of the total added value generated by foreign companies and represented a quarter of the total investments by foreign companies in Slovenia.
