STA, 17 April, 2018 – A 13-member Slovenian transport and logistics delegation started a three-day visit to Tokyo on Tuesday to promote Slovenia as a logistic platform for Central and SE Europe. The visit was organised by the SIPRIT entrepreneurship agency and the transport section of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS).
The Slovenian delegation met leading officials of Japanese shipping companies and logistics operators interested in transport and logistic services to Slovenia's surrounding countries and Slovenia itself, the GZS said in a press release.
The delegation head, Rok Svetek, who heads the transport association at GZS and is the director of transport company Adria Kombi, assessed that the interest of Japanese companies had exceeded expectations.
During their stay in Japan, the Slovenian delegation will present the Koper port as the shortest transport route to Central and SE Europe, and transport and logistic services for Japanese companies exporting to Europe.
The visit is a continuation of the promotion of the Slovenian transport and logistics sectors on foreign markets, which the GZS started in Malaysia and Singapore in 2009, continued in China, Hong Kong and India in 2010, and then again in China in 2013 and 2014, in Vietnam and Indonesia in 2015, and in Japan in 2016.
Last year, the sector was also promoted at the Transport & Logistic Fair in Munich, Germany.
