Nearly 20 years ago I happened to pick up Lonely Planet’s Slovenia book while planning my first back-packing trip to Europe. I had no clue where it was nor could I pronounce its capital. But needless to say, I liked it way more than expected and in 2005 I started running boutique tours around Slovenia and then onto her ex-Yugoslav neighbors. In 2014 I moved here with my wife and two young kids to run my tour business full time and enjoy a better quality of life compared to big city USA.
