This week’s photo comes from Urška & Domen Photography, and is a shot of Zelenci Springs blanketed with a thick covering of fresh snow. As is clear in this image this is an area of great natural beauty, and another of Slovenia’s nature reserves, not far from the town of Kranjska Gora (and you can read more about the winter there here).
The waters here, famed for their clarity and colour, rise up from the bottom of the lake, filtered through porous chalk after flowing along the Nadiža Stream, the first source of the Sava Dolinka, which eventually joins the Sava and then the mighty Danube.
